Sennheiser’s first true wireless earbud will get the upgrade we’ve been waiting for at the start of April. The Momentum True Wireless 2 will boast great improvements in functionality over its predecessor. All this without having to change the original $299 price tag.
For me, the most significant improvement Sennheiser has made for the Momentum True Wireless 2 is the new battery life. On a single charge, the Momentum TWS 2 gets 7 hours of playtime, up almost 50% from the 4-hour battery life of the original earbuds. The case holds another three full charges, bringing the total battery life of the product to nearly 28 hours.
Sennheiser’s true wireless Momentum earbuds have always sounded fantastic, but the short battery life on the first model was a big problem for many consumers. According to the company, a new bluetooth chip is what’s keeping the battery stronger. Whatever it is, I’m glad to see Sennheiser aggressively addressing consumer concerns. You can see our review of the original earbuds here.
The new Momentum earbuds will also feature Active Noise Cancelling. The distortion and sensitivity specs (and, presumably, the drivers inside) are consistent with the original earbuds. The numbers indicate that the stellar sound quality of the original Momentum TWS earbuds will be preserved in the new model. Of course, we have to wait and see what affects the inclusion of ANC will have.
To top it off, the new earbuds are a whole 2mm more compact than their predecessors. A subtle difference, but one that I’m sure comes across in the feel and fit of the earbuds.
The Sennheiser Momentum True Wireless 2 earbuds are already available for pre-order through Audio 46 and Sennheiser’s website. Audio 46 and other retailers will be carrying the earbuds for $299 starting April 1st.
